I have a narrow heel and have had problems with slippage in the past, but found that in the GEL-Nimbus 11 my heel stays in place without feeling too tightly restricted. Suffice to say that at the end of long marathon training runs my feet felt as comfortable in the shoes as when I had first put them on.
ASICS also changed the midsole of the shoe, which significantly reduces the weight (making it 12.4-ounces versus the previous 13.2-ounces ). Previous models had a compression molded midsole and ASICS improved upon this with the use of Solyte in the GEL-Nimbus 10, a significantly lighter cushioning material than EVA cushioning materials. For the GEL-Nimbus 11, ASICS also improved the composition of Solyte, which is supposed to give the shoe more bounce back and make it more durable. I definitely felt an increase in response to impact, but this could also be due to the fact that any new shoe feels better upon impact. The jury is still out on Solyte, but day in and day out I do appreciate a lighter shoe that doesn’t sacrifice comfort for less weight.

Asics GT-2150 Performance
I had a few initial worries that the Asics GT-2150’s would completely alter my style of running as they have more support in than my last pair of trainers but I honestly didn’t notice any difference in the way that I run. The shoes rubbed slightly on the arch of my foot during my first few runs but they loosened up quickly and now they feel as comfortable as my old pair of battered trainers!
Now that I have been out on a good number of long distance runs wearing the shoes I can see the Asics prised foam heel moulding system at work and there is definitely a nice indentation where my heel sits within the shoe. This is supposed to add additional support and provide an individual fit for each runner but all I know is that my heel fits nice and snug into the back of the shoe and feels pretty well supported even on rough terrain.
This maybe completely psychological and irrelevant but I feel that the Asics GT-2150’s are a faster shoe than my old GT-1130’s. Maybe it has something to do with the fact they now my foot has the additional support that it needs it makes the transition from heel strike to forefoot liftoff more quickly than in my old shoes. To be fair it could just be due to that new shoe feeling that we all get when we buy a new pair of running trainers but whatever it is; It works for me!

In the Men's High Jump, defending champion and 2009 World Championship Team Member Tora Harris (Chula Vista, CA) cleared 7' 5" (2.26m) on his last attempt to claim 2nd place. Harris and the winner cleared the same height but Harris was relegated to 2nd place due to more misses.
In other events, Russ Winger (Chula Vista, CA) put the shot 66' 6" (20.27m) for 6th place. 2009 World Championship Team Member Ryan Brown (Seattle, WA) finished in 8th place in the 800m running 1:54.63. In the Women's Pole Vault, 2008 Olympian April Steiner-Bennett (Phoenix, AZ) cleared 14' 1 1/4" (4.30m) earning her a tie for 9th place. Norris Frederick (Chula Vista, CA) leapt 5.61m in the Long Jump and did not advance to the final.

ASICS Seeks Injunction And Damages From Skechers USA
Irvine, CA (May 19, 2010) – ASICS America Corporation (Irvine, Calif.) and ASICS Corporation Japan (Kobe, Japan) announced today, May 19, 2010, that they have filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California against Skechers U.S.A., Inc. (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) for trademark infringement, unfair competition, trademark dilution and false advertising. ASICS is seeking a permanent injunction against Skechers to prevent any future sales and distribution of shoes that bear a stripe design similar to ASICS’ famous stripe design. In addition, ASICS seeks damages, including profits and attorney fees.

When I joined the cross-country team in seventh grade, my motivation was to get in shape for the upcoming basketball season. Like many new runners, I never imagined that it would become a lifelong passion. But I quickly discovered many aspects of the sport—the competition, the stress relief, the beauty of training outdoors, the thrill of crossing the finish line—that got me hooked.
Twenty-five years and countless races later, I love running for some of the same reasons I did back then, and many more. I run to maintain my health, stay focused, be a good role model for my kids and enjoy dessert guilt-free. I even met my husband while we were training for the same marathon, so you might say I have running to thank for my family.
As a fitness writer, personal trainer and a running coach in New York City for the past eight years, I've mentored runners of all abilities, ages, shapes and sizes, and watched them become addicted to running for many of the same reasons that drew me in. I love that running is such an accessible sport and not too difficult for total newbies. Once you get your feet wet, there's always something new to learn, another challenge, and more ways to keep pushing your running to the next level.
I've always found that running is more fun, rewarding and inspiring when you're part of a running community. I hope this blog will be a place where you can come to learn, get inspired, and share your own running accomplishments and adventures.

Hall's next major race will be the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2009 where he is predicted as one of the favorites.
"I couldn't be more happy to stay with ASICS, a brand that has been faithful to me from my first pursuit of breaking the four-minute mile barrier, to qualifying for my first Olympic team, to now, as I pursue winning a major marathon in the U.S.," says Hall. Kastor will likely be ready to run a full marathon by the fall of 2009.
